The purpose of the LOSN climate group is to promote policy changes and projects within the community, city and school district to lower our collective carbon footprint. We work to change attitudes and lifestyles so that all of us can contribute. With climate change bringing dire changes to our weather and safety, we must make changes in order to retain the Lake Oswego life that we love.

One of the three pillars of sustainability is social equity along with the environment and economic vitality.
Our goal: Create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community. Incorporate and embed diversity equity and inclusion internally in the LOSN organization.

Housing
Housing and, more broadly, Land Use policies have a massive effect on the sustainability of a community. Sprawl is a direct consequence of sparse suburban land use and inefficient road network centered around cars, causing massive deforestation and huge amounts of fossil fuel usage.

Our natural resources are integral to a sustainable society. Our community needs to understand the impacts of human actions on the environment and be responsible for taking action to protect and improve the natural systems that sustain us.

Transportation
We recognize that modes of transportation are shaped by patterns of employment, housing, land use, and commercial activities. Therefore, our vision of a sustainable transportation system extends beyond electrification of vehicles to a broad range of issues that involve how we organize our space and move about in our city.
