DESCRIPTION:To learn how to prepare and protect yourself and your family in the event of a severe winter storm\, earthquake\, flood\, or other disaster\, join us for a Mini Emergency Preparedness Fair before the Lake Oswego Reads Author Presentation. \nThis free event features: \n\n10+ Informational Booths\nLive Demonstrations & Interactive Activities\nGiveaways (while supplies last)\n\n3-gallon water containers (1 per Lake Oswego household). To prepare for an emergency\, it is recommended that people store one gallon of water per person (and pet) per day for a minimum of 14 days. To help residents meet this goal\, the City will be giving away approximately 280 BPA-free 3-gallon water containers (limit of one per Lake Oswego household).\n1-gallon soft-sided water bags – great for your emergency kit! Use this bag to get water from a distribution center during an emergency..\nReflectors to help you be seen at night\nLock boxes. The Lake Oswego Police Department will be giving away medication lock boxes and handgun lock boxes along with cable locks.\nAnd more!\n\n\n\nHighlights include: \n\nLearn how you and your family can Be 2 Weeks Ready\nLearn how to Stop the Bleed. The Lake Oswego Fire Department (LOFD) will teach you life-saving skills to control severe bleeding in emergencies.\nDiscover how to properly shut off water and natural gas safely.\nLearn how to make your home more resilient and sustainable. Lake Oswego Sustainability Network will share examples of how your neighbors are generating and storing their own energy and how we can provide free assistance to help you electrify your home.\nExplore FRS/GMRS emergency radios and learn how to communicate with others across the city or beyond with radio! Get a hands-on tutorial on using two-way radios for emergency communications.
